Friday Update 2: Tags
This week was similar to the last one - I spent more time consulting than building. Although I am working on fixing that, I am proud of what I have achieved so far. Let me share the most important things:
About Page:
As promised, I worked on a navigation feature and wrote a very long About page that explains the advantages of Blockenberg, answers the main questions I received so far, and explains some functionality that is not obvious. I would like to give a big thank you to Wiktor and Developer DAO for providing me with the right feedback.
Tags:
While working on explaining the difference between a CMS and a blog engine on the About page, I realized the importance of tags as a feature. By specifying tags, you can separate the different parts of your website's content. For example, if you want to edit a blog and FAQ, your website developers will know exactly where the content you are creating belongs.
CID:
Now, every new content is identified by content ID, making it easier to share, and the solution is more robust. This is the first phase of a logic upgrade that is necessary to implement sharing functionality. The CID feature also improves the resilience of the application overall.
UI Improvements:
Dogfooding the Blockenberg application has enabled me to find several issues myself, such as the disappearance of the delete button with the last release. This issue is now fixed. Additionally, I improved the editor UI again to allow for an undistracted editing experience when creating content on the desktop. I hope that the "eye" icon that reveals the header is understandable enough.
I am continuing to work on the sharing functionality. If you are an organization that will benefit from this feature, I advise you to wait a little longer. It seems that the easiest way to implement this will be some sort of "organization identity" that all relevant content creators can share content with.
Until next time,
Adam
